Description

You will lead the design and evolution of onX's lakehouse and data platform, focusing on data architecture, metadata, governance, and security to enable reliable analytics, product features, and AI systems at scale. You'll drive complex, cross-team initiatives, serve as a technical mentor, and collaborate with Product, Analytics, Data Science, Security, and Platform teams.

Requirements

• Senior leader experience in data engineering
• Expertise in Apache Iceberg and lakehouse architecture
• Proficiency with metadata and catalog tools (e.g., OpenMetadata)
• Experience with data security, governance, and compliance
• Strong collaboration and mentorship skills

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve Iceberg-based lakehouse architecture for scalability, cost, performance, and maintainability
• Lead architectural efforts spanning batch, streaming, and event-driven data processing
• Drive metadata standards and adopt open-source metadata tools (e.g., OpenMetadata) for self-service analytics, governance, and AI readiness
• Design security and access-control models for Apache Iceberg, including table-, column-, and row-level controls
• Build automation for compaction, retention, lifecycle management, and cost controls; establish observability standards
