💼 About This Role

You'll own reliability across Medal's infrastructure, handling billions of gaming clips and massive video pipelines on GCP. You'll drive incident response, scale databases, and partner with engineering teams to ensure our infrastructure keeps up with rapid growth. This role offers a chance to tackle challenges most engineers never touch at a well-funded startup backed by $133M from General Catalyst and Khosla Ventures.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Own reliability across GCP infrastructure, improving availability and latency
• Lead incident response end-to-end: on-call, runbooks, postmortems
• Architect and execute database scaling strategies for MySQL and Postgres
• Manage Terraform-managed GCP environment and Kubernetes configurations

📋 Requirements

• Deep hands-on experience scaling and sharding relational databases in production
• Expert-level knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (Kubernetes, VPC, IAM, etc.)
• Fluent in Terraform with ownership of IaC at scale
• Production experience operating Elasticsearch clusters end-to-end

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience with GitHub Actions in production CI/CD
• Knowledge of Java, Redis, RabbitMQ, BigQuery
• Background in startups or fast-growing scale-ups
