💼 About This Role

You'll build and evolve voice and chat AI systems for Toast's restaurant platform, driving projects end-to-end from concept through production. You'll directly improve how restaurants get help, navigating ambiguity and making pragmatic tradeoffs between shipping fast and building for scale. This is a high-impact role where accuracy, speed, and reliability are critical.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Drive end-to-end development of voice and chat AI systems.
• Build and evolve integrations with third-party AI platforms.
• Design and implement observability and outcome tracking.
• Make technical decisions grounded in production data.

📋 Requirements

• 5+ years in software engineering with production systems.
• Strong background in Java, Kotlin, or other OO languages.
• Experience building integrations with third-party APIs.
• Ability to own complex features end-to-end.

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience with AI tooling such as Cursor, Claude, MCP servers.
• Proven ability to work in ambiguous problem spaces.
