Requirements
- 8+ years of product localization experience with proven track record in localization strategy for international launches and linguistic quality management.
- Fluency in English and Canadian French (native) required.
- Experience developing market strategies based on market research and data analysis.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills to drive partnerships and initiatives.
- Ability to take initiative and work autonomously, leading initiatives at a strategic level.
- Exceptional project and program management, partner and stakeholder management, with experience working in cross-functional teams across time zones.
- Excellent ability to manage multiple diverse stakeholders across business and leadership levels with strong communication and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to take initiative, self-motivate, deliver results, and take ownership.
- Ability to work at both strategic and tactical levels with proven implementation in complex environments.
- Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with country director, marketing director, legal, business operations, policy and communications to develop business strategies aligned with Airbnb's goals on the Canadian market.
- Act as linguistic and cultural expert, proactively sharing product roadmap and strategy to drive global strategy adoption in the target market.
- Identify market expectations and develop language strategies to deliver an authentic experience for Canadian users.
- Provide linguistic and cultural expertise to drive international growth, proactively influencing stakeholders to deliver the best user experience.
- Lead localization of product names and creative copy, involving local teams to establish the Airbnb brand in international markets.
- Initiate conversations with central and local teams to influence product changes to meet market needs.
- Understand international user needs in collaboration with consumer research and analytics.
- Identify localization process challenges and lead quality improvement initiatives at language and team level.
- Optimize strategy for localization quality excellence across platforms.
- Ensure translation and QA vendors deliver high-quality service meeting Airbnb standards, evaluate metrics, and drive improvements.
- Coordinate linguistic feedback from users and employees.
- Develop and maintain linguistic and cultural standards and guidelines.
- Collaborate on copywriting for marketing initiatives.
- Work with localization program managers and linguistic QA managers to deliver superior international products.
