You will shape the regulatory landscape for European sovereign cloud infrastructure, creating a narrative that defines sovereignty beyond data residency. You'll lead policy strategy, engage with governments, and integrate policy with commercial goals.

Requirements

• Deep experience at intersection of technology policy, government relations, and European regulation
• Understanding of EU policy making through direct involvement in shaping frameworks, certification schemes, or procurement standards
• Existing relationships with senior government officials, EU institution stakeholders, or defence/security procurement leaders
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure and open-source technology
• Excellent communication skills to turn conviction into simple narratives for diverse audiences
• Passion for creating a European category king in cloud market
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and move fast

Responsibilities

• Define and execute Aiven's public policy strategy centred on true European sovereignty and open-source
• Ensure strategy is integrated with Aiven's roadmap and commercial objectives
• Create the True Sovereign Cloud category and push open-source sovereignty narrative to government, universities, public sector leaders
• Position Aiven as credible voice in European cloud sovereignty and AI infrastructure policy through thought leadership
• Engage with EU institutions, national governments, and standards bodies to advocate for sovereign cloud definitions
• Build trusted relationships with senior government officials and institutional stakeholders
• Track certification timelines, procurement frameworks, budget signals, political developments across European markets
• Translate intelligence into actionable insights for earlier and more effective engagement
• Partner with marketing to feed policy positions into public narrative and thought leadership
• Partner with product and engineering to meet evolving certification and compliance requirements
• Engage with early design-partner customers in regulated industries to validate requirements
