Description

You will lead assembly, integration, and test activities for novel optical systems in spaceborne applications, working with cross-functional teams to mature prototypes into production systems. This role involves procuring optical elements, developing alignment plans, managing vendors, and ensuring performance verification for rugged optical systems.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering or Physics/Astronomy with Optics concentration
  • 5+ years of experience in complex opto-mechanical systems assembly, integration, and testing
  • Experience with free space optical systems for space or airborne environments
  • Knowledge of electro-optical system specification, development, manufacturing, and testing
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Lead assembly, integration, and test for novel optical systems
  • Work with optical suppliers to procure elements and manage acceptance tests
  • Generate alignment plans and align optical systems using autocollimators, interferometers, etc.
  • Manage integration and test vendors for scaling production of infrared assemblies
  • Evaluate prototype and production optical system performance to determine root cause of errors
