💼 About This Role

You'll serve as the senior operational authority for laser shot operations at a fusion energy startup, coordinating teams to ensure safe and effective execution of tests. You'll lead shot readiness reviews, authorize shots, and analyze data post-shot. This role offers the chance to shape continuous improvement of shot operations infrastructure at the forefront of clean energy.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Lead real-time shot execution, including pre-shot readiness reviews and go/no-go decisions.
• Coordinate system controllers, operators, safety personnel, and experimenters during operations.
• Manage formal transitions between operations and maintenance modes with clear handoffs.
• Drive continuous improvement of procedures, operating limits, checklists, and readiness tools.

📋 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or related field.
• 8+ years experience operating or testing complex, high-risk technical systems.
• Demonstrated experience leading time-critical operations and making decisions under pressure.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required.

• Master's degree or higher in engineering or physics.
• Prior experience as a Test/Launch Director or equivalent role.
• Familiarity with laser systems, pulsed power, or experimental diagnostics.
