Description

In this role, you'll resolve complex customer problems across the full open source stack—from bare metal to Kubernetes and applications—by diagnosing issues, providing workarounds, and contributing upstream bug fixes. You'll collaborate with Canonical's engineering teams and upstream communities to ensure reliable, performant solutions for enterprise users worldwide.

Requirements

• Professional experience as a software engineer
• Background in Computer Science, STEM or similar
• Strong experience with Linux and at least one of: Ceph, OpenStack, Kubernetes or other cloud technologies
• Strong development-level experience with at least one of Python, Go, C or C++ on Linux
• Ability to troubleshoot with debugging tools like gdb; familiarity with git

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and other open source software
• Maintain close working relationship with Canonical's Field, Support and product engineering teams
• Participate in upstream communities, develop bug fixes, backport patches, and work for upstream inclusion
• Review code produced by other engineers and demonstrate good judgment in technical methods
• Prioritize work and manage time effectively, maintaining clear technical communications
