Description

You will lead materials and processing challenges in silicon wafer production for Starlink solar cells, ensuring space-grade performance and reliability. You'll own wafer quality, process development, equipment commissioning, and supplier qualification to support high-volume manufacturing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in materials science or chemical engineering
• 5+ years of experience in semiconductor wafer manufacturing or processing
• Experience with silicon materials science, defect mechanisms, and surface chemistry
• Proficiency with wafer characterization equipment (ICP-MS, TXRF, SIMS, FTIR, etc.)
• US citizenship or permanent residency required

Responsibilities

• Lead equipment selection and commissioning for wafer slicing, cleaning, degumming, and inspection
• Collaborate with engineering and supply chain teams to translate mission requirements into wafer specifications
• Own development and qualification of wafer processes (ingot cropping, slicing, cleaning, degumming, surface conditioning)
• Qualify supplier materials (slurries, wires, adhesives, wet process chemicals) for contamination-free wafers
• Drive defect reduction through root-cause analysis and continuous process optimization
