💼 About This Role

You'll lead the people side of tem's ML team, focusing on growth and performance of engineers across forecasting, optimisation, and classical ML. You'll create conditions for technical excellence through coaching, operating systems, and strong hiring, ensuring the team delivers transparent, AI-driven energy transactions at scale. This is a people leadership role where you'll act as a sounding board, not a technical authority, in a high-growth Series B startup.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Lead hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development for ML engineers
• Build and maintain team operating systems: sprint cadences, incident review, monitoring feedback loops
• Act as a sounding board for ML engineers, surfacing risks and creating space for expert decisions
• Partner with Rosso Engineering Manager to align ML and software engineering priorities

📋 Requirements

• Proven experience managing ML engineers or scientists across junior to staff levels
• Strong people development track record with 1:1s, progression frameworks, and coaching
• Experience building team operating systems: prioritisation, sprint cadences, incident review
• Strong hiring instinct for ML roles in a competitive market
