💼 About This Role

You'll own security as a deeply practical, engineering-led discipline at Neara, building digital twins for electricity grids. You'll embed security into code and architecture, making it the path of least resistance for engineers. This role is our first in-house security hire, offering a chance to shape security culture from the ground up.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Set up and maintain automated security analysis tools.
• Review code and architecture for security vulnerabilities.
• Threat-model systems and improve defense-in-depth.
• Train engineers on secure development and real-world attack vectors.

📋 Requirements

• Software engineering background, backend or platform (3+ years).
• Experience reviewing production code for security issues.
• Deep understanding of common vulnerabilities (auth, crypto, injection, cloud misconfig).
• Practical experience securing modern systems (APIs, cloud, CI/CD, containers, IAM).

✨ Nice to Have

• First or early security hire experience at a startup.
• Hands-on pentesting or red-team experience.
• Experience with ISO 27001 or SOC 2.
