Description

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Data Platform team, you will design and build scalable distributed systems that power data analytics and machine learning at Okta. You will work with modern technologies like Kinesis, Flink, ElasticSearch, and Snowflake to support streaming analytics, interactive reporting, and telemetry, making a significant impact on how Okta uses data to enhance security.

Requirements

• 8+ years experience in object-oriented language, preferably Java
• Hands-on experience with cloud-based distributed computing (e.g., Kinesis, Kafka, Flink, Spark, Snowflake, Hadoop)
• Experience developing and tuning highly scalable distributed systems
• Solid understanding of multithreading, garbage collection, memory management
• Experience with reliability engineering, data quality, observability, incident management

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and own data-intensive, high-performance, scalable platform components
• Work with engineering teams and architects on project development and design
• Conduct design reviews, code reviews, analysis, and performance tuning
• Coach and mentor engineers to help scale the organization
• Debug production issues across services and multiple stack levels
