Description

You will design, build, and scale backend and machine learning systems that form the foundation of Klaviyo's AI strategy, partnering with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to deliver intelligent, outcome-driven systems at massive scale.

Requirements

• 7–10 years experience in machine learning engineering or applied software engineering
• Deep understanding of supervised learning methods (random forests, XGBoost, logistic regression, ensemble techniques)
• Proven track record of building and scaling production-grade ML systems end to end
• Proficient in Python and frameworks like FastAPI or Django
• Strong skills with big data and streaming technologies (Apache Spark, Kafka, Hadoop)

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of backend and ML systems scaling to 182K+ customers
• Build robust data processing and model-serving pipelines for production ML models
• Develop and optimize predictive systems (conversion likelihood, engagement ranking, personalization, anomaly detection)
• Architect systems enabling AI agents to learn and improve autonomously from reward signals
• Collaborate cross-functionally to translate business challenges into scalable ML solutions
