You'll shape the platform architecture and strategy for Aiven's cloud data platform, working as an individual contributor and technical leader. You'll drive long-term evolution, balancing innovation with stability, and mentoring engineers. This role offers the chance to influence a global open-source company's technical direction.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Partner with domain head to influence platform roadmap and architecture.
• Identify efficiency gaps and improve systemic ways of working.
• Empower teams as product custodians addressing foundational issues.
• Implement key platform features hands-on in Python.

📋 Requirements

• Experience building and designing distributed systems in cloud environments.
• Strong knowledge of database fundamentals (OLAP/OLTP, persistence, replication).
• Proficiency with SQL to interact with platform's master database.
• Deep understanding of release management and testing best practices.

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
• Ability to write and review RFCs and PoCs.
• Experience with Python for implementing platform features.
