You will be the first in-house attorney at Interface.ai, owning all commercial, employment, privacy, and corporate legal work while partnering directly with the CEO to shape legal strategy. This is a high-impact role to build the legal function from scratch at a high-growth AI startup.

Requirements

• JD or LL.B.; active bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
• 8–15 years combined law-firm and in-house experience as a 'department of one'
• Deep expertise in SaaS commercial contracts, employment law, data privacy (GDPR/CCPA) and corporate governance
• Hands-on experience managing outside counsel and cross-border issues (U.S./India preferred)
• Comfort leveraging generative-AI tools and prompt engineering to scale legal processes

Responsibilities

• Negotiate customer, vendor, reseller and data-processing agreements
• Advise People Ops on hiring, terminations, equity grants and multi-state compliance
• Build and run privacy/AI compliance program (GDPR, CCPA, FTC)
• Prepare board consents, maintain cap-table and support financings
• Manage outside counsel on IP, litigation and insurance claims
