You'll join Commonwealth Fusion Systems' Materials Department to support materials testing and characterization in the quest for fusion energy. Your core impact will be preparing test specimens, operating lab equipment, and ensuring data accuracy for critical component validation. This second-shift role offers a 10% pay differential in a fast-paced R&D environment.

๐ŸŽฏ What You'll Do

  • Prepare test specimens and perform laboratory experiments.
  • Operate mechanical testing equipment (tensile, fatigue, etc.) in extreme environments.
  • Support inventory management and purchasing of consumable parts.
  • Execute materials tech tickets per SOPs and job hazard analyses.

๐Ÿ“‹ Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years experience with basic materials prep and testing tools.
  • 2+ years technical support skills (mechanical/electrical assembly, vacuum systems).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work with industrial hazards.

โœจ Nice to Have

  • Experience with Instron mechanical test systems or Bluehill/Wavematrix software.
  • Metallographic sample preparation and analysis experience.
  • Experience with cryogens (liquid nitrogen, helium).
