Description

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer at Headway, you will build scalable systems for a platform that connects patients with therapists and handles insurance, claims, and financial processing. You'll work with Python, TypeScript, and modern cloud infrastructure to create a new mental healthcare system that everyone can access.

Requirements

• Strong experience in Python and TypeScript
• Experience with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, React, or similar frameworks
• Proficiency with Postgres, Redis, and cloud infrastructure (AWS)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative environment
• Commitment to building reliable and scalable systems

Responsibilities

• Build and improve backend services for financial processing and bookkeeping for independent providers
• Develop systems to manage insurance claims and billing across multiple states and insurance networks
• Create internal tools for customer support, operations, and medical teams
• Ship small, learn fast through iterative development and user feedback
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team to drive the mission of accessible mental healthcare
