You'll build and lead the measurement and performance intelligence function for OpenAI's compute platforms, defining metrics and benchmarking for next-generation AI infrastructure. Your work will translate performance data into actionable recommendations for architecture, quality, and capacity decisions. This role offers direct impact on OpenAI's large-scale training and inference systems.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Build and lead the measurement & performance intelligence function
• Define platform performance metrics, benchmarking methodologies, and acceptance criteria
• Partner with training, inference, and infrastructure teams to evaluate workload behavior
• Translate performance data into recommendations for architecture and capacity strategy
• Establish scalable processes, tooling, and reporting for performance analysis

📋 Requirements

• Experience leading performance engineering or infrastructure optimization teams at scale
• Deep technical depth in distributed systems, AI/ML infrastructure, or HPC
• Experience defining performance metrics and validation for complex systems
• Ability to operate across hardware, software, and infrastructure boundaries
