💼 About This Role

You'll shape the technical strategy for Toast's Financial Management suite, building products like Cash Flow Insights and Bill Pay that help restaurants manage cash flow. You'll drive high-impact features, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams to deliver resilient financial tools within the leading restaurant platform.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Define technical strategy and architecture for Financial Management.
• Identify and prioritize high-impact customer and business problems.
• Partner with Product, Design, Compliance, and external vendors.
• Lead architectural discussions and sequence roadmap.
• Mentor engineers and drive engineering excellence.

📋 Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals in Java / Kotlin environments.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems in production.
• Ability to balance hands-on execution with long-term technical direction.

• Experience building financial systems (payments, reconciliation, accounting).
• Familiarity with regulatory/compliance requirements for financial products.
• Background in data modeling or ledger-like systems with high-volume data.
