You'll perform structural and mechanical analyses using classic hand calculations and FEM simulations to support the design and testing of fusion energy systems. Your work will directly enable cost-optimized, high-performance hardware for a groundbreaking inertial fusion startup. You'll collaborate across teams to resolve issues and drive rapid iteration from prototype through integrated test campaigns.

๐ŸŽฏ What You'll Do

  • Perform structural/mechanical analyses for opto-mechanical, thermal-mechanical, and fluid-structure hardware.
  • Validate finite element models using internal and external test data.
  • Create analysis documentation and reports for design reviews and test readiness.
  • Mentor junior analysts and establish best practices for modeling and margins.

๐Ÿ“‹ Requirements

  • B.S. degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of structural/mechanical analysis experience supporting engineered hardware.
  • Experience with commercial FEA tools (Altair, ANSYS, Abaqus, Nastran).
  • Knowledge of load paths and stress analysis for bolted joints, weldments, and pressure components.

  • M.S. degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with test campaigns, instrumentation, and analysis correlation.
  • Proficiency with Altair Optistruct and Radioss and nonlinear materials.
