Description

You will lead the design and development of optical systems for spaceborne imaging products, working with an interdisciplinary team to define architectures, complete optical design and analysis, and mature prototypes into field-deployable systems. This role is critical to delivering advanced imaging capabilities for national security missions.

Requirements

• BS in Engineering with concentration in Optics; MS or PhD preferred
• 5+ years experience with complex opto-mechanical systems including design, analysis, alignment and test
• Expertise with optical design software, preferably Zemax
• Experience with STOP analysis and knowledge of image quality metrics
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture decisions and optical trades for novel optical systems
• Design lenses and optical components for high performance imaging systems
• Define optical performance requirements given multi-disciplinary constraints
• Design and tolerance complex visible to infrared optical systems for ground/airborne applications
• Develop test setups and procedures; evaluate prototype performance to determine root cause
