Description

You will lead the development lab for Planet's satellite production facility, maintaining organized ESD-safe workspaces, performing precision SMT soldering and rework, and supporting engineering test setups. Your work enables ~40 engineers across disciplines to validate designs and accelerate innovation.

Requirements

• 6+ years relevant experience
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or scientific field
• Deep experience in precision SMT soldering and hot air rework, interpret electrical schematics
• Proficiency with test instrumentation: multimeters, bench power supplies, oscilloscopes
• Hands-on experience with 3D printers and laser cutters for rapid prototyping

Responsibilities

• Own lab physical space: implement and maintain clean ESD-safe workspaces and SOPs
• Perform precision SMT soldering (hot air/hot plate rework) and inspect solder joints
• Provide direct engineering test support: set up boards/fixtures, collect data, troubleshoot prototypes
• Maintain equipment list, schedule calibrations, coordinate lab infrastructure updates
• Manage inventory, vendor interface, kitting, and track order progress
