Description

You will architect, select, and integrate optical terminal payloads for satellite constellations, ensuring secure high-bandwidth laser links in Low Earth Orbit. Working with payload, spacecraft bus, and security teams, you will guarantee optical terminals meet military performance constraints, directly enabling sovereign capabilities for democratic societies.

Requirements

• Specialized experience in Free-Space Optical communications or laser physics for space
• Deep understanding of optical transceivers, EDFAs, modulations, and PAT algorithms
• Systems engineering thinking: impact on thermal, vibration, power, and ADCS
• Familiarity with military space standards (MIL-STD, ECSS) and E-STOL
• Education in Physics, Optics/Photonics, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering

Responsibilities

• Define optical communications architecture for SAR constellation
• Perform free-space optical link budget and jitter analysis
• Drive pointing, acquisition, and tracking requirements with ADCS team
• Manage physical and electrical integration of OISL terminals under SWaP constraints
• Serve as technical interface with optical terminal vendors, evaluate COTS and custom solutions
