Description

As Corporate Counsel, IP at Okta, you will shape and refine our global IP strategy, manage the patent lifecycle, and provide expert advice on IP risks. You'll collaborate with engineering teams to identify inventions and protect innovations across patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.

Requirements

• J.D. from accredited law school and active Bar membership.
• Technical degree in CS, EE, or ECE; USPTO Registered Patent Attorney.
• 5+ years of IP experience including software patent prosecution.
• Experience with SaaS, cloud-based software, or relevant technology.
• Builder mindset thriving in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage lifecycle of IP assets aligning with business goals.
• Partner with engineering to identify patentable inventions and build patent literacy.
• Draft and prosecute high-quality patent applications with outside counsel.
• Advise on trade secret policies, copyright, trademark, and IP in contracts.
• Conduct IP due diligence for M&A and support litigation.
