💼 About This Role

You'll join Marqeta's Cloud Database Engineering team to automate the lifecycle of AWS Aurora instances and design highly available database solutions for our card issuing platform. Your work directly supports over 5 billion transactions annually across global regions.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for database services
• Automate lifecycle of AWS Aurora and other cloud databases
• Design high availability and disaster recovery solutions
• Collaborate with engineers on short- and long-term technical vision

📋 Requirements

• 5+ years experience as a backend engineer with a Bachelor's degree
• Experienced with AWS cloud native databases (Aurora, MySQL, Postgres, DynamoDB, MongoDB)
• Proficient in Python and Linux shell scripting
• Experienced in IaC tools (Terraform, AWS Step Function)

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience with logical/physical migrations and blue-green switchovers
• Database fleet management experience
• Basics in Java and FinTech domain knowledge
