Description

You will build and own the systems that make Gusto Retirement engineers productive and happy, including AI-powered developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure services. You'll identify developer pain points, deliver automated solutions, and set technical direction to multiply team velocity.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping production products or platforms with AI-powered tooling.
• Strong CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and developer tooling background including high-availability systems.
• End-to-end ownership mindset comfortable with production support and long-term planning.
• Proven track record of driving multi-quarter technical investments.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails and modern infrastructure tools.

Responsibilities

• Build and own AI-powered developer tooling including AI coding tools, LLM-integrated workflows, and automation.
• Design, build, and ship CI/CD systems, infrastructure services, and deployment pipelines end-to-end.
• Drive developer productivity by identifying bottlenecks and delivering scalable solutions.
• Identify and execute architectural improvements to data models, APIs, and system contracts; debug production issues.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams and contribute to shared infrastructure.
