Description

As a Lead Software Engineer at Nu, you'll shape the technical direction of multiple teams, designing and evolving large-scale distributed systems that serve millions of customers across Latin America. You'll work with Clojure, AWS, Kafka, and Kubernetes to build resilient, secure, and highly scalable financial products.

Requirements

• Experience with large-scale distributed systems and understanding of architectural trade-offs
• Proficiency in backend development; open to learning Clojure
• Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, and cloud-native technologies
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams
• Ability to drive pragmatic innovation while ensuring resilient, secure solutions

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for multiple teams, ensuring alignment with business goals
• Architect and build horizontally scalable microservices using Clojure and functional programming
• Design high-throughput event-driven systems with Kafka
• Mentor engineers and maintain high technical standards through pairing and code reviews
• Ensure observability, performance monitoring, and participate in on-call rotations
