Description

You will design and develop wireless communications algorithms for the Starlink Mobile satellite constellation, working on MAC and PHY layer algorithms, link adaptation, and interference analysis. You'll collaborate with software engineers to implement and deploy algorithms to orbit and qualify their performance in production.

Requirements

• Bachelor's in CS, engineering, math, or STEM + 1+ years engineering experience (or 5+ years professional experience in lieu of degree).
• Experience with MAC and PHY layer protocols and algorithms used in cellular base stations.
• Experience working with 3GPP protocols.
• Fluent in MATLAB and working knowledge of Python and/or C/C++.
• Strong debugging, performance optimization, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize MAC/PHY layer algorithms for link adaptation, power control, timing advance, and doppler tracking.
• Design and simulate complex MAC layer scheduling algorithms supporting joint scheduling across multiple beams under QoS constraints.
• Analyze inter-cell and inter-beam interference on uplink and downlink, propose solutions through beam planning and scheduling improvements.
• Run link level and system level simulations to compare algorithm performance at all protocol layers.
• Collaborate with software engineers to implement algorithms, deploy to orbit, and qualify performance via KPI and telemetry analysis.
