Description

You will lead the design and development of mechanical systems for autonomous biospheric technologies, taking ownership from concept through to industrialization to support Interstellar Lab's mission of enabling life on Earth and in space.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
• 6+ years of experience in mechanical design, analysis, and manufacturing
• Expertise in CAD design (Onshape, SolidWorks, or CATIA) and large assembly management
• Solid understanding of materials, mechanical analysis, and industrial processes
• Experience with product testing, validation, and design for manufacturability

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from concept to production, balancing performance, cost, and manufacturability
• Develop 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings using Onshape or equivalent software
• Collaborate with electrical, software, and systems engineers to ensure integration and serviceability
• Manage large assemblies and ensure configuration control across design revisions
• Support prototyping, testing, and validation activities to verify design performance
