Description
You will design, configure, test, and deploy HL7, FHIR, and API-based interfaces to support EMR and LIS integrations across our clinical network, ensuring reliable ordering, results delivery, and clinical data exchange. Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and healthcare organizations to own the technical strategy and integration architecture, driving improvements in interoperability and data quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree + 7 years of experience or Master's + 5 years in Health IT integration, EMR interoperability, or related field.
- Proven technical leadership of multiple cross-functional integration initiatives.
- Deep proficiency in HL7 v2 (ADT, ORU, ORM), FHIR (R4), and API-based integrations (REST, SOAP, OAuth 2.0, JSON, XML).
- Hands-on experience with EHR systems such as Epic (Aura, Care Everywhere), Cerner, Flatiron, or similar.
- Mirth Connect expertise.
- Strong JavaScript for data validation and troubleshooting; familiarity with Unix command-line, Git, and serialization formats (JSON, CSV, XML).
- Ability to analyze, map, and validate healthcare data; implement function-wide quality controls.
- Deep understanding of HIPAA, PHI security, and regulatory compliance in clinical data exchange.
- Proficiency with monitoring and logging tools; ability to define KPIs and drive incident management improvements.
- Exceptional communication and documentation skills; ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated success managing multiple concurrent integrations with detailed workflows, test plans, and go-live documentation.
- Detail-oriented with focus on system stability, data integrity, and post-go-live optimization.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate across partners including external vendors, EMR partners, and hospital IT teams to negotiate technical scope, SLAs, and timelines.
- Drive support processes and technical operations, including onboarding playbooks, SLOs, error budgets, monitoring, and incident response.
- Design and validate HL7, FHIR, and API-based interfaces across EHR platforms (Epic, Cerner, Athena, etc.).
- Ensure data quality by analyzing, mapping, and troubleshooting clinical data; implement quality controls and test plans.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to support live integrations, measure technical integration health, and drive automation.
- Serve as Integration SME providing expert guidance on EMR connectivity and best practices.
- Standardize and scale integration processes by authoring standards, documentation, playbooks, and SOPs.
- Advance integration strategy by co-developing the long-term connectivity roadmap and evaluating emerging standards.
