Description

As a Mechanical Engineer on the Starship Launch Hardware team, you will design, analyze, and own the full lifecycle of mechanical systems for launch pads, recovery systems, and production tooling. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure hardware meets performance and schedule goals, directly contributing to SpaceX's mission of enabling human life on Mars.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering
• 1+ years professional experience with NX, CATIA, Creo, or Solidworks, or with ANSYS, ABAQUS, or FEMAP
• Willingness to travel to other SpaceX locations
• Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident (ITAR requirement)

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze mechanical systems for launch pads, recovery, and production tooling
• Own end-to-end project lifecycle: coordinate build, testing, and activation of designed hardware
• Collaborate with launch operations to ensure products meet form, function, and aesthetic expectations
• Apply structural sizing, mechanisms, and design skills to make cost- and schedule-driven decisions
• Present cost and schedule trade proposals to leadership
