Description

You will solve complex materials challenges in a rapidly innovating environment, partnering with engineering and supply chain teams to accelerate production of SX casted components for gas turbines. You will own hands-on responsibilities with hardware to drive scaling and implementation of casted components for Starship flight.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in material science, materials engineering, or related engineering discipline
• 5+ years of professional experience with metal casting technologies
• 3+ years of experience with metallographic characterization techniques (SEM-EDS, optical microscopy, etc.)
• Experience with Ni-based superalloy castings preferred
• Willingness to travel up to 35% and work long hours/weekends

Responsibilities

• Partner with supply chain, vendors, and engineering teams to accelerate SX casted component production
• Develop, qualify, and troubleshoot metal casting processes
• Provide technical review and advising for design efforts on material and process specifications
• Collaborate with vendors on qualification and property development of castings
• Perform root cause investigations using fractography, metallography, and characterization techniques
