Description

As the Lead SRE for the Storage Layer Services team, you'll lead a team of 6-8 engineers to ensure the reliability and operational safety of MongoDB's cloud storage layer. You'll define SLOs, shape capacity plans, and drive the technical roadmap for multi-tenant distributed storage systems. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll contribute technically while growing a senior SRE team.

Requirements

• 10+ years experience with distributed systems, 2+ years managing engineering teams
• Customer-focused mindset treating internal developers as primary users
• Deep technical familiarity with Kubernetes, containerization, and IaC (Terraform, Crossplane, Operators)
• Experience operating stateful storage or database systems at scale
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate business requirements into roadmaps

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a team of 6-8 engineers, fostering positive culture and handling career growth
• Define and drive technical vision and roadmap for multi-tenant distributed storage systems
• Contribute through hands-on technical work: architectural design reviews, PR reviews, operational challenges
• Act as primary liaison for SLS SRE team, collaborating with engineering leaders
• Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure platform alignment
