You'll lead research efforts to develop safety case content for autonomous driving systems and represent Waymo in UK and international standardization bodies like BSI and ISO. You'll investigate best practices for quantifying safety benefits and ensure our global strategy accounts for European regulatory nuances. This role offers the opportunity to publish white papers and conference publications to shape industry safety standards.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Lead research to develop safety case content for evaluation methodologies.
• Represent Waymo in UK and international standardization bodies.
• Investigate best practices for quantifying safety benefits.
• Author white papers and conference publications on safety.
• Collaborate with Engineering to translate research into testing requirements.

📋 Requirements

• M.S. or Ph.D. in a technical field (Engineering, Data Science, Physics, Math).
• Minimum 5 years in safety-critical research or evaluation.
• Experience with scenario-based testing for automated driving systems.
• Exceptional technical writing with work on safety cases or regulatory submissions.
• Track record of peer-reviewed publications in top safety or robotics conferences.

• Engagement with international standards organizations (BSI, ISO, SAE).
• Experience in validation of virtual testing toolchains (simulation credibility).
• Familiarity with UK CAM roadmap or EU ADS regulations.
