💼 About This Role

You'll build and scale legal and compliance frameworks for open-weights AI model development at a high-impact startup. You'll partner with research and engineering teams to embed legal by design and safety by design principles across the model lifecycle. This role offers the chance to shape global AI regulation from the ground up.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Advise on legal and regulatory compliance across model lifecycle
• Design policies for open-weights model and dataset publication
• Develop guardrails for acceptable use and red teaming
• Monitor emerging AI and data regulations globally

📋 Requirements

• J.D. or equivalent legal degree with active bar membership
• 8–12+ years of experience in tech law or regulation
• Proven expertise in global privacy regimes (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA)
• Experience partnering with engineering and research teams

✨ Nice to Have

• Familiarity with model evaluation or safety frameworks (NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001)
• Experience engaging with regulators or contributing to AI policy
• Prior leadership in scaling product and regulatory legal functions
