💼 About This Role

You'll join the Payments team at Toast to build a unified payment processing solution for restaurants. You'll design and deliver high-scale backend services that process millions of dollars in transactions daily. This role offers a chance to lead technical direction and collaborate across teams on a mission-critical platform.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Design and build features for Toast's payments products
• Implement automated test suites and best practices
• Collaborate with PM and UX on feature definition and design
• Lead code reviews and mentor junior engineers

📋 Requirements

• 8+ years designing and implementing backend services
• Ability to step into a technical leadership role
• Experience designing scalable APIs integrating with internal/external systems
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization

✨ Nice to Have

• Proficiency with DynamoDB or PostgreSQL
• Proficiency in Kotlin or Java
• Experience with event sourcing, OLAP, or streaming data
