Description
You will perform analytical engineering system studies, conduct detailed analysis of system events and disturbances, and maintain electric power system models to ensure reliable operation of the NYISO transmission and generation resources.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with coursework in power systems, electrical engineering, power system components, and mathematical modeling.
- No prior industry or professional experience required.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and government regulations.
- Ability to apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.
- Proficiency in power flow and transient stability applications software (PSS/e or PSLF) and fault current assessment software (ASPEN One-Liner).
Responsibilities
- Perform analytical engineering system studies including seasonal reliability assessments, thermal, voltage, and transient stability studies, short circuit studies, and inter-regional transfer analysis.
- Conduct detailed analysis of system events and disturbances for compliance with NERC, NPCC, and NYSRC standards.
- Maintain detailed electric power system models for the NYCA using accurate representations for thermal, voltage, stability, and short circuit analysis.
- Review NYISO controlled and secured facilities, standards, and practices for installation, maintenance, and testing of bulk power protective relay systems.
- Prepare and maintain NYISO technical support documentation and provide technical support to Operations, Planning, and Market Monitoring staff.
