Description

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Nextdoor, you'll join a small, high-performing team to build and improve backend services that power neighborhood connections. You'll collaborate with product managers and designers to define features, and your work will directly impact millions of users across 11 countries.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Strong coding abilities in at least one language; Python or Kotlin preferred
• Experience building and deploying flexible backend systems at scale
• Strong collaboration and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Backend development using Python/Django, Kotlin/JVM, SQL, GraphQL, Redis, Postgres, Kafka, and AWS
• Collaborate with product management, data science, and design to maximize impact
• Work with engineering teams in Toronto, San Francisco, and beyond
• Participate in in-person events and team-building exercises
• Contribute to company culture and build relationships
