Description

As a senior engineer on MongoDB's Database Experience team, you will design, write, and support open source Python libraries used by millions of developers. You'll drive major features, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate across teams to improve the MongoDB ecosystem.

Requirements

• Substantial experience writing high-quality software in Python
• Practical experience with AI/ML frameworks and technologies in Python, including LLMs and agentic tools
• Extensive knowledge of Python tools and frameworks; scientific Python and web development frameworks are a plus
• Experience participating in open source software development
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with mentoring experience

Responsibilities

• Develop and support MongoDB Python drivers and subsidiary libraries (PyMongo, Django MongoDB Backend, LangChain MongoDB)
• Write and maintain open source specifications defining common behavior and APIs
• Investigate bugs and support requests from commercial customers and open source users
• Collaborate with Product and Server teams on designs for new MongoDB features
• Implement major planned features and contribute to common driver specifications
