You will develop and analyze theoretical approaches to quantum error correction and fault-tolerant quantum computation, contributing to scalable photonic quantum computing architectures. The work involves logical encodings, quantum codes, fault-tolerant protocols, and integration into larger systems.

Requirements

  • Background in quantum computing, QEC, theoretical physics, mathematics, or related field
  • Knowledge of quantum error correction and fault-tolerant quantum computation (stabilizer codes, decoding, topological codes, etc.)
  • Familiarity with QEC literature or ability to quickly build overview
  • Analytical and mathematical reasoning skills
  • Some experience with scientific programming (Python, Mathematica, Julia)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze theoretical approaches to QEC and fault-tolerant quantum computation
  • Study quantum codes and fault-tolerant protocols (logical operators, thresholds, measurement strategies, resource scaling)
  • Contribute to theoretical design and analysis of scalable photonic quantum computing architectures
  • Perform analytical calculations or numerical studies for code constructions and conceptual ideas
  • Contribute to discussions on QEC strategies and identify promising theoretical directions
