💼 About This Role

You'll own the end-to-end design of balloon envelopes for next-generation autonomous defense platforms. Your work will directly transition concepts into flight-ready hardware through rapid prototyping and testing. This role sits at the intersection of hardware, software, and mission execution in a fast-paced startup environment.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Own end-to-end design of balloon envelopes including geometry and material selection.
• Perform analysis of pressurized systems for stress, creep, and failure modes.
• Develop and execute ground and flight test campaigns to validate models.
• Build internal simulation tools for sizing and performance prediction.

📋 Requirements

• Experience with soft goods or flexible structures (fabrics, membranes, inflatables).
• 1+ years experience in mechanical engineering with hands-on prototyping.
• Strong skills in 3D modeling and CAD (NX, SolidWorks, etc.).
• Experience with programming (Python, MATLAB, C++) for analytical modeling.

• Background in high-altitude or atmospheric systems.
• Familiarity with textile engineering, coatings, or permeability modeling.
• Knowledge of seaming, bonding, and joining techniques (RF welding, heat sealing).
