You'll lead a team of research scientists focused on post-training language models for DeepL's next-generation translation products. Your core impact is shaping how models learn beyond pre-training, enabling better controllability and safer user experiences. This role stands out for its focus on keeping DeepL's language AI ahead of general-purpose frontier models.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Drive and develop a team of research scientists with individual development plans
• Own the team's research roadmap in Reinforcement Learning
• Define strategic goals, roadmap, and success metrics with stakeholders
• Act as primary technical interface between Task Adaptation team and adjacent functions

📋 Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or comparable quantitative discipline
• Strong foundation in deep learning and large-scale model training
• Proven experience leading a team of researchers or ML engineers
• Excellent communication skills for translating research to stakeholders

✨ Nice to Have

• Publication experience at top-tier venues
• Experience in post-training of large language models
