Requirements

  • 8+ years in product localization with proven track record of owning localization strategy in international launches.
  • Fluency in English and native knowledge of Canadian French.
  • Experience building market strategies using market research and data analysis.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and partnership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Outstanding project/program management and stakeholder management experience across time zones.
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills with ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Self-starter, outcome-oriented, seeking ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to work at both strategic and tactical levels in ambiguous environments.
  • Must be able to prioritize and manage conflicting demands.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Country Manager, Marketing, Legal, Business Operations, Policy and Communications to devise business strategies aligned with Airbnb's goals.
  • Be the linguistic and cultural expert for Canada, proactively sharing global strategy and roadmap with local teams.
  • Craft language strategies offering users an authentic native experience.
  • Own localization of product naming and creative copies, building Airbnb's brand in Canada.
  • Initiate conversations with central and local teams to influence product changes for market needs.
  • Research needs of international users in collaboration with Consumer Insights.
  • Lead localization quality improvement initiatives at language and team level.
  • Ensure translation and QA vendors deliver high quality service; assess vendor metrics and drive improvements.
  • Coordinate language feedback from users and employees; develop linguistic and cultural standards.
  • Support content copywriting for marketing initiatives.
