💼 About This Role

You'll lead the development of core physics-based simulation capabilities for wildfire and future perils at a startup building a scalable risk engine for property insurance. Your work will directly power real-world risk decisions and automate underwriting. This role combines technical leadership with people management in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Lead cross-functional technical programs across data, backend, and ML teams
• Own major features of the physics simulation roadmap
• Establish modeling standards and validation practices
• Guide development of probabilistic risk models from deterministic physics

📋 Requirements

• PhD or Master's in a relevant field
• 5+ years leading simulation-adjacent technical programs
• Demonstrated ownership of large-scale simulation-driven initiatives
• Strong modeling intuition informing system design or product outcomes

✨ Nice to Have

• Prior experience as a people manager in startup environments
• Experience with physics-based simulation for natural hazards or climate
• Proficiency in Fortran, C++, or similar for simulation codebases
