Description

You'll work side-by-side with experienced VEG doctors who will mentor you through real ER cases, offering guidance and feedback every step of the way. This six-month deep dive into emergency medicine transforms practicing non-emergency veterinarians into confident ER doctors through hands-on learning, weekly case discussions, and over 160 RACE-approved CE hours. You'll discover the unique rewards of customer-focused care in an open concept hospital while preparing for a full-time ER doctor position at VEG.

Requirements

  • Valid DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree
  • Practicing veterinarian for 1+ years
  • Valid license to practice veterinary medicine
  • Valid DEA registration in the state where completing the program
  • Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor
  • Ability to lift up to 25 kg on own and support up to 40 kg with assistance
  • Willingness to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on rotating basis
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with diverse people
  • Commitment to a predetermined schedule for six consecutive months

Responsibilities

  • Work 3-4 hospital shifts per week (days, swings, and nights)
  • Participate in weekly case discussions and literature reviews
  • Attend hands-on training at state-of-the-art facilities
  • Learn best practices for client-centered communication and care
  • Complete all required program competencies and benchmarks
