Description

You'll build core platform systems like load shedding, rate limiting, circuit breakers, and traffic controls to protect Asana under real-world load. This is deep, cross-cutting work that shapes the stability and performance of our entire infrastructure, partnering closely with other platform teams to embed reliability as a core design constraint.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience building and operating backend systems at scale
• Strong software engineering background, comfortable with production code and system design
• Familiarity with distributed systems patterns (backpressure, graceful degradation, capacity planning)
• Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), Terraform, and monitoring tooling like Datadog
• Clear communicator and strong collaborator, comfortable navigating trade-offs

Responsibilities

• Design and build core platform systems (load shedding, circuit breakers, rate limiting) that protect Asana at scale
• Own critical platform concerns like ingress and egress, shaping traffic flow through systems
• Define stable interfaces and libraries for other platform teams
• Lead end-to-end projects from scoping through rollout across multiple platform teams
• Debug hard problems across the stack and prevent recurrence
