Description

As a Staff Systems Safety Engineer at Motional, you will oversee the development and implementation of safety processes for autonomous vehicle systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards like ISO 26262, SOTIF, and ASIL. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into perception, decision-making, and control systems, while conducting hazard analyses and risk assessments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems, Electrical, Computer Science, or Mechanical Engineering
• 5+ years industry experience with 3+ years in safety engineering for automotive, aerospace, or robotics
• Strong knowledge of ISO 26262, SOTIF, and ASIL standards
• Experience with hazard analysis, risk assessment, and safety case development
• Proficiency in safety analysis tools like Medini Analyze, Ansys, or FMEA software

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement system safety processes for autonomous vehicle platforms
• Conduct hazard analysis and risk assessments (HARA) for AV components and subsystems
• Define and verify functional safety requirements per ISO 26262 and SOTIF
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and AI teams to integrate safety measures
• Develop safety verification and validation plans including simulation and real-world testing
