Description

You will design automated calibration processes for high-resolution satellite imagery and ensure geometric integrity across Planet's satellite fleet. You'll troubleshoot complex image quality issues and collaborate on cross-functional teams to develop performance models and calibration concepts for next-generation monitoring systems.

Requirements

• 10+ years industry experience with statistical processing of large measurement datasets
• Bachelor's degree in Photogrammetry, Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics relevant to geometric characterization
• Extensive experience using Python in Unix/Linux environment
• Knowledge of scaling code with cloud computing resources (e.g., AWS or GCP)
• Experience solving problems using large cloud-based datasets

Responsibilities

• Design and implement automated scalable processes for geometric calibration of satellite constellations
• Develop photogrammetric models, error budgets, and calibration concepts for high-resolution imagery
• Drive ongoing performance characterization and troubleshoot geometric image quality issues
• Perform space imaging operations and geometric calibration activities
• Collaborate cross-functionally to develop performance models and calibrate next-generation satellites
