💼 About This Role

You'll join Safeguards Labs, a new team at the intersection of research and engineering, turning research prototypes into production-grade safeguards for Claude. Your work will directly reduce real-world harm by building systems that protect users. The small team gives you high leverage on direction and substantial ownership.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Harden research prototypes into production services for real-time safeguards.
• Build data and evaluation infrastructure for rapid prototyping and measurement.
• Own deployment, monitoring, and reliability for shipped systems.
• Build internal tooling to help investigators surface and act on abuse patterns.

📋 Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Python and comfort with large datasets.
• Track record designing, building, and operating production backend systems or data pipelines.
• Experience taking software from prototype to production including testing and monitoring.
• Working familiarity with large language models and care about AI societal impacts.

✨ Nice to Have

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Experience deploying ML systems or classifiers into production.
• Background in trust and safety, fraud detection, or adversarial ML.
• Experience with agentic environments and researcher collaboration.
