Description
You will conduct engineering studies on transmission projects to support New York's clean energy goals. Your analyses will evaluate reliability, economic, and regulatory impacts, and you'll collaborate with various stakeholders to plan the state's energy future.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Economics or related technical field; Master's desired
- Two years of related experience in power system planning, energy policy analysis, or transmission design
- Course studies in power system operation, control, transmission planning, statistical analysis, and optimization using linear programming-based models desired
- Proficiency with advanced power flow and transient stability software (PTI PSS/E, GE PSLF, PowerFactory, or PowerGem TARA) desired
- Experience with production cost simulation software such as PLEXOS, GridView, MAPS or PROMOD highly desirable
Responsibilities
- Conduct power system engineering studies (power flow, stability, short circuit, transfer limits, resource adequacy) in compliance with NERC, NPCC, NYSRC criteria
- Perform market simulation and production cost analysis using standard software tools
- Coordinate and perform interconnection studies for transmission projects proposed by developers
- Review details of major transmission projects proposed under FERC Order 1000 competitive transmission processes
- Evaluate system benefits and potential risk factors of competing transmission projects and make recommendations
